The Lausanne Treaty that designates the borders, the territory and Greece and European Union’s sovereignty can’t be revised or updated and is totally clear without leaving any trace of ‘grey zones’, stated President of Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Saturday in his message for the Greece’s Independence Day celebrated on March 25.
«Turkey must understand and respect that Greece and the European Union support its European prospect but they also have the will and power to defend, immediately and effectively, their borders, their territory and their sovereignty».
Moreover, in his message Pavlopoulos described the Greek conditions regarding the problem with FYROM and the prerequisites for a solution to the Cyprus issue.
«Whenever we Greeks were united we did great things. The division always led us to disaster that cost the loss of parts of our national body» he added.
